This show is so badly overacted it’s hard to watch. I truly have no idea why every character bar Gabriel is acted in such an over the top way. Pretty much the only good thing about this show is the occasional outfit and the scenery. It reminds me of living in Paris. I can only imagine Parisians find this show embarrassing.
I don’t know how Emily would have even been considered for this job given her credentials and she comes to Paris trying to tell French people how to live and work. Americans thinking they know better than others... believable but it’s so cringe worthy. How on earth she would realistically afford the clothes, shoes and handbags she wears in the show is beyond me.
The cliches of French people and culture are also embarrassing to watch. I’ve lived in Paris and travelled there other times too and I know that 99% of French women dress in a simple yet attractive way. They don’t walk around in the garish getups that the girls in this show wear.
I wasn’t a fan of Sex and the City but I have to say this is worse.
The worst thing is probably the focus on social media, self promotion, selfies and people stuck on their phones all the time. Isn’t that exactly what’s wrong with the world? Why we have to keep encouraging people to post photos of themselves online and strive for a life of self promotion I don’t know. I’m not clear on who this show is aimed at. If my daughter was a teenager I’d definitely discourage her from watching this. I’d hope she’d aspire to going to Paris (as her parents have many times before) and experiencing the culture rather than walk around in ridiculous bright clothes, taking photos of herself and making a fool of herself.
