Like many others, I liked this show until Season 2 Episode 2. I practiced family law for 17 years in a farm community with many undocumented workers. I had one case where the husband, who was undocumented, was deported several times, had abused my client (his wife) again. I called ICE personally to try to get them to deport him again, but they don't do that. Maybe they were sitting around in New York federal courthouses looking for any children who "look" Hispanic so they can rip them from their families, but more likely they're working with their severely limited resources to fight human trafficking and drug trafficking with no support from the public.
I would love a novel episode where ICE puts their lives on the line to protect many children who are trafficked across the border (often raped along the way, which I've heard personal accounts of), or fighting the drug cartels who murder countless people across the both sides of the border.
I was so outraged after watching this episode that I searched Twitter to see if anyone else was as upset as me, but only saw people thanking the producers for a story so "bravely" bringing these "issues" to light. People think there is some factual basis for this, but it's a lie. If this happened ONCE, that father's name would be on CNN and MSNBC nonstop. It hasn't. This show has gone far to convince more people, however, that this regularly happens even though it's absolutely never happened.
After this episode, I removed it from my season pass and don't plan on watching again. Sadly, I'm running out of good shows to watch.
