Here I sat, a 31 year old mother engrossed by such a wonderful series. I was patiently waiting to watch it because the Netflix preview really grabbed my interest with the song and instrumental aspect that the band and Julie portrayed, and without knowing any of the characters, they illuminated an aura that left me yearning to learn more of what the plot consisted of. My nine year old daughter has been transitioning to shows like such, recently loving Sister, Sister (which will always be a top favorite childhood family comedy series for myself).
In my opinion, from the moment on how the series opens and its innocent but comical aspect, I immediately felt comfortable as a parent to let my daughter watch along with me, as well as letting my inner ‘wanna be a singer when I grow up girl’ phase let loose and unknowingly frustrating my daughter at times by belching out some tunes. I know there is the original from Brazil, and although I have not watched it, as far as for the US version, the creative, musical and actor components it has, it is an amazing hit in. It does portray the essence to believe in one’s self and know that people who care for you absolutely matter in supporting your life points, good and bad. The actors make the series thrive, but oh man, the songs are beyond catchy and well written!
Watch it. Let loose. Sing out loud. I hope they come out with a second series!
