Vincenzo is a very smart bit of writing (as well as a visual and acting treat). On the surface it looks like a typical kdrama where a very dangerous, very beautiful person becomes virtuous and switches from the dark side to the side of light and saves the good guys. It is anything but. It is a story of a very smart, beautiful, dangerous person who takes advantage of anything and everything to get what he wants. He stoops to using good people to form a wall of willing bodies to protect him and the audience gets sucked right in with these unwitting sacrificial people. It is a story that shows how the leaders of cartels manage to get entire regions to be loyal to them. Meanwhile, this story is also rollicking great fun, with a few extremely brutal bits thrown in to try and get the viewer to “see” the real story. Oh, and DO NOT miss the last 5 minutes of the final episode.

Hilarious! I laughed til I cried! It is brilliant in how it plagiarized every teenage slasher movie and a few other genres to produce a really fun film. I hope it was intentional. I was a guest and my hosts decided to watch or I would never have dialed up this insane but zany piece of fun. There are some very talented actors here, with my kudos to Beth Grant. Cage is a mystery man with some above-average fighting talents and a severe case of OCD. An overly-caffeinated canned drink becomes its own actor. I hope you have as much fun as I did, but you might have to have watched 60 years of movies and TV to appreciate the humor.

Watched this excellent scifi last year and still consider it the best scifi I have seen yet on Netflix (I consider the 1st Bladerunner to be the best scifi I have ever seen although I am a fan of all sorts of scifi). You cannot miss a minute of this series and keep up much less figure out what is going on; really keeps you on your toes. Just about the time you are shaking your head at the point you feel you cannot continue to suspend your disbelief, a little bit of thinking about what we do not know about how our universe works picks you right back up and tosses you back in the game. Although the premise is just another slash and kill video game, that isn’t what this series is really about. No spoilers from me; you are just going to have to watch it. BTW- I don’t play video games.

Midnight Diner is a delightful Tokyo version of the old San Francisco Tales of the City. Wonderful little vignettes providing glimpses into the lives of the various characters who visit the Midnight Diner. I am so happy that Midnight Diner has returned for another season. I am excited to see that there are a total of four seasons; can’t wait to see them all. I watched season one probably four or five times. The first viewing I followed the stories. The second viewing I looked at the sets. On the third viewing I noticed that I never skipped the intro; I found I was captivated by the beautiful and emotional music of Suzuki Tsunekichi, even though I don’t understand a word of it. Something about these stories is very soothing. Perhaps it is the sense of community they exude. Totally hooked.

I remember the first time I heard a Shelby Cobra strutting the square right through the OU campus first day of my Freshman year, 1969. It turned heads! I was so impressed that I still have a clear image of it coming into view so of course I was going to go see this movie about its creation and how it made racing history. Puts you right in the car!!! I swear I was holding my breathe through half the movie! Human interest story is very good and the acting was top notch. Managed to get the 1960s vibe perfect. Great director. Be aware you MUST see it on the big screen. Some movies are just that way and this is one of them.
