You never find out what the key is for. Just putting that up front so you don't waste your time. I really wanted this movie to be good. The concept is the best part of the movie, and I still wholeheartedly believe that this was adapted from a comic or a graphic novel of some sort. It feels so much like something from Image or Dark Horse. But, other than some interesting visuals and an intriguing plot, the writing was decent, the acting was...spotty, and the ending was extremely disappointing. The characters have no purpose or arc, it's just violence and mystery that amounts to absolutely nothing. Such a shame.

Maaaan. It started off so good! There was genuine mystery and intrigue, and the characters, while not extremely complex, were fun to watch. But after the twist near the end the movie just fell apart. The writing was always pretty iffy and cliche, but it got to much worse toward the end. Overall, I think that the first 2/3 of this movie are pretty good, so just watch that and quit before they go back into the caves

The one thing this show has over the book is the coherency of the plot. The book jumps around to different points in time and, in a comic book especially, that makes it difficult to follow. This show lays things out in a structure that's much easier to follow and actually got me interested in the concepts and such. Everything else is just infuriatingly stupid. The acting isn't that great, the effects are...fine, for the budget, but the writing. Oh God. The writing was absolutely abysmal. Characters would restate things we just saw and explain things we figured out 20 minutes ago. They make the stupidest decisions and don't think their decisions through. And it's not just the kids either. There is seriously one part where the villain wants a certain key, and one of the ADULT CHARACTERS AWARE OF THE VILLAIN'S PLAN, goes back to where the villain is to get something. And takes the key with them. The key that the villain wanted. And the big "twist" at the end was one of the most predictable things ever. The characters were either stupid or unapologetically irritating, and it was all just so condescending. I love the keys and the basic ideas, but those didn't come from the show. This show is just insulting to watch.

What a waste of time. Such a predictable movie with a pretentious edge that just becomes a chore to get through. I was intrigued by the concept, and I do love odd stories especially when they include sci-fi elements. But this movie is not that. I understand it's message and I understood it halfway through the movie. You don't get any straight answers by the end, either. No closure. It's just a terrible time. Which I'm sure is the point cuz that's what the characters are going through and all, but as a film it's just a pure waste. An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back.

It's not a bad film. It's a good spend of 90 minutes if you have nothing else to do. It's just confusing at times and the creature designs aren't very interesting or unique. The storyline is also fairly predictable because we've seen it a thousand times. Evil company does a thing with crew. The thing they're doing wakes up a monster or monsters. Crew tries to escape while monsters kill them. And then the company continues being evil. It's just Alien with a different coat of paint, and a less interesting one at that. But I still don't think it was that bad. Just lacking in creativity.

What a weird movie! The first part of it is pretty solid, to be honest. Obviously, there are a lot of jumpscares, but they sometimes got creative with how they did them and hid creepy little details in the background. But at some point the people making it seemed to forget it was a Grudge movie. It jumps around to several different points in time involving several different characters that you never care about and you know are just gonna die. There were times when the movie actually dropped the main plot entirely to go through these backstories. The actual Grudge lady NEVER shows up. I thought she did once or twice, but no. It's this little girl ghost who's basically the main antagonist for some reason. My theory is that there was a group of people who were working on an original horror movie, and the company decided to shove the Grudge into it. The way it ends is kind of neat, but the more you think about it the more you feel like it's lazy and rushed. It's entertaining enough, I guess, but there are so many better horror movies out there besides this. Watch the one from 2004 or something. Or watch Lights Out or The Conjuring.

It was a solid concept! It was genuinely interesting and neat for the first while, but as it neared the end and eventually wrapped up, it just seemed lazier and lazier. It just degraded in quality, it seems. The effects were fine considering the budget and the writing was fine until the end. If you have nothing else to watch, pop this on, I guess.

This movie isn't good. Maybe for kids, but even then, the kids in my theater laughed at 3 parts in the whole movie, so I'm not sure even THEY enjoy it. While not the worst, the writing, plot, editing, and pacing really bring this movie down. Scenes interject abruptly and nonsensically, the dialogue is often cringy, and the inclusion of Tom Wakowski or whatever is ultimately pointless in a Sonic film. Just make it about Sonic, he's interesting enough as is. Make it a film about environmentalism instead of loneliness. Oh, and let's not forget THIS FILM IS THE MOST PREDICTABLE THING I'VE EVER SEEN. I kid you not, I made a list of predictions before I went into it, and 7/10 of them were correct. Spot-on correct, mind you. Much room for improvement here.

I've always really enjoyed this movie. Now, it is indeed far from perfect, but it was still another example of 2008 being a great year for blockbusters. While the subplot with the wife and Patrick Bateman is a little awkwardly shoved in there, and the effects have aged a little poorly, it is still an entertaining, interesting story of a lonely, self-destructive, super-powered jackass. Give it a watch if you're in the mood.

I'm barely even 30 minutes into this movie and I already dislike it. They hide people's faces and build them up for no good reason, the effects look the same as before, if not a bit worse, the acting is spotty, and it's just a soulless product. Disney, please stop it with these films.
