Rebecca is a Classic of its time and therefore the kind of narrative,the context,the social setting all need to be considered when reading this novel.This psycho drama is exciting from the opening scene to it's nail biting finish...not too many writers could have pulled off the greatest unsolved mystery to the end,where nowhere is the new Mrs DeWinter's first name ever mentioned...even when Maxim.addresses her,he only calls her 'My Darling',never by her first name !!
