Generally well done but a few inconsistencies. Though the alien has supposedly copied the human doctor at the cellular level and changed his appearance accordingly, the mayor's son sees his alien form. This might fly if he was mentally projecting his human form and the kid anomalously isn't affected by the projected image, but not if he's copied the human at the cellular level.

An intriguing concept but who believes experienced climbers don't have ascenders, just descent gear. No pitons either. And the girl sitting alone with an injured ankle throws out a gazillion cyalume lightsticks. No caver would do that. Same with Professor Hopper throwing them every 5 feet while still in sight of the entrance. Apparently they didn't bother having any caving technical advisor. Their first order of business should have been sending someone for a rescue team. And they never ate or drank or had to urinate?
