SEASON 2! SEASON 2! SEASON 2! Now THIS is the type of show we need more of! Look at how diverse this series is! POC as the main characters, proper LGBTQ representation, and a more natural high school setting. It's been soooooo long since I've seen a live action show told from a different perspective where the protagonist wasn't white. Representation matters, and seeing this story told through the eyes of a poc is truly a breath of fresh air. Devi's story was very emotional and intense and I loved every second of it. I loved learning more about Indian culture and traditions. The comedy wasn't forced at all, it flowed naturally. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. XD Netflix did an exceptional job when putting together this cast and creating this series, and I really hope it gets renewed for a second season.

Wow! This movie exceeded my expectations. I was royally surprised when I first heard about this movie. I had no idea Disney created a live action version of such a classic fairytale. This Cinderella remake is such a beautiful, magical gem of a movie filled with a multiracial cast, and I can't believe it came out in 1997! Talk about progressive! Disney, what the hell happened over the years? It's interesting that this movie managed to give black girls a beautiful, charming princess that they could look up to, despite the time period it was released. I really like how this movie didn't focus heavily on Cinderella's struggles and race like TPATF did. Instead this movie focuses on Cinderella following her dreams and finding love after getting away from her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. Her struggles as a black woman isn't the main focus, and she's not thrown into a non-human form for 90% of the movie. No, we get to see Cinderella fall in love and live out that fairytale life. The chemistry between Cinderella and the prince was breath-taking. I loved every second of their encounters and I found the songs absolutely mesmerizing and enchanting. Brandy did an outstanding job playing Cinderella and Whitney Houston did an amazing job playing the fairy godmother. I'm glad I finally watched this movie. It's a shame there aren't more Disney princess movies like this that have a black woman as the lead that gets to be a princess without having to almost sacrifice everything in order to achieve the same things as the other Disney princesses. Overall, I think this movie was amazing and I think every young black girl should have a princess like Cinderella to look up to. I just really hope that the upcoming TLM live action remake takes a similar approach to this movie, and I hope in the future Disney will continue to make more princess movies that have POC as the main lead so that their stories can be properly told.

As someone that was never really a DC or Marvel fan (I hate the way the female characters are portrayed) I gotta say, this is probably the most interesting adaptation of the over hyped Teen Titans franchise. I've seen the kiddy TT and TTG shows and I actually prefer this version of the TT a lot better. I like how this series takes on a more mature and dark stance. There is a lot of violence and death, but there's also a lot of strong characters and the plot is very intense and fascinating. I love the relationship between Dick and Rachel and I love the backstories of the Titans. I absolutely love Hawk and Dove and Starfire's story. I love that the female characters are not just eye candy for men like the older versions of Starfire in the comics where she literally poses provocatively in every shot, like she is some kind of freaking sex blow up doll. No, these female characters are important, functioning characters with the same great strength and skills as their male counterparts. They aren't mere damsels in distress that need saving. They will kill without a moments hesitation and I love it! We need more serious superhero shows that take on this kind of approach, because young girls and women deserve the same recognition as all these male superheroes, and they deserve to have strong role models to look up to. A lot of angry fans are mad because they feel like this show doesn't accurately portray their fave characters (they wanted to see more T&A from Starfire), but I'm honestly glad that this series is so different from its predecessors. If every adaptation for a show was the same, what would be the point of even making a new show??? The characters don't have to look the exact same in order for you to recognize them. And god forbid they get a personality adjustment so that they are more relatable and interesting. I am glad that the creators of this series decided to change things up and add their own twist on the story and characters. I can't wait for season 3! :D

Wow! What a show! My friend recommended it to me and I initially thought I was going to hate it. But nope! I really enjoyed it! Can we just take a moment to appreciate the star cast they hired to voice these colourful characters? Kipo is the main protagonist of this series and she's NOT white! Hell, all the main supporting characters (Wolf, Benson and Dave) are all voiced by poc and this series centres around non-white characters. Talk about being majorly progressive! It's very, very hard to find an action/adventure series with poc as the lead characters. These genres almost always feature white characters with poc as the side or minor characters. So to finally see a series that shows diversity among the characters is truly amazing. Oh, and this show has an openly gay character and their sexual orientation is not forced or fake. It's canon! It's very natural and it's refreshing to see more LGBTQ characters slowly being introduced in cartoons. This character just casually admits to being gay and the other characters don't make him feel bad or weird about it. If parents have a problem with that, they need to keep their bigotry and homophobia to themselves. It's not hard to explain what gay means to kids and you don't have to make it about sex, because that's not what love is about. STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS! OMG! There are strong female characters in this series that aren't just pretty and act as a potential love interest. No, they are functioning, intelligent and strong characters that can hold their own in a battle and they add so much to the plot. There are female friendships that play an important role in this series, such as Kipo and Wolf's friendship and it's really nice to see two female characters value and care about one another. Overall, this series is definitely several steps in the right direction. The music used is nicely done, as it's heavily influenced by black culture, and the diverse characters is a nice tough. It's nice seeing black characters being portrayed as the heroes and it's nice seeing their stories and experiences being told. I look forward to seeing what the second season has to offer!

What a treat this show is! It's so hard to find a show that centres around the friendship between 2 women. Tuca and Bertie takes us to a whole new world where animals are anthropomorphic and live like humans. From the creators of Bojack Horseman, Tuca and Bertie walks us through the life of 2 best friends as they struggle with everyday problems that women have to face, such as sexism and sexual harassment in the workplace, all the while topping everything off with tasteful humour. I almost didn't watch this show, but then I decided to give it a try, and now I can't wait for season 2! Edit: Turns out this series will not be getting a second season because Netflix foolishly decided to cancel it so that they could focus on pushing other titles, and renewing BoJack Horseman for a 6th season! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!

This series is basically a continuation of Alien Force, with Ben now 16 years old. Ben unlocks a few new aliens and has to fight new villains. They brought Vilgax back AGAIN for the 500th time, so that was annoying. Kevin and Gwen are more lovely dovey (*vomits*), as are Julie and Ben. Not much is different from Alien Force, except for the fact that Ben now wields the power of the Ultimatrix instead of the Omnitrix because it broke. His aliens can now transform into their ultimate forms and are more powerful. The plot is basically the same, Ben is still a cocky, immature, but lovable brat that has to keep fighting evil aliens while trying to maintain a normal life. He's also famous now because some little brat had to expose his secret, so there's that little obstacle. I think the most interesting part about this season is the ultimate aliens.

They've done it again! Cartoon Network butchered a respectable and lovable show and made a crappy, watered down reboot that ignores all the source material and meaning of the original to instead focus on forced and downright pathetic 'comedy'. This reboot is absolutely appalling! Where's the intensity of the fights between Ben's aliens and the bad guys? Why does the Ominitrix time out so fast now? And why did they cut the run time from a regular 20-30 minute block to a measly 10 minutes per episode?! This reboot is a disgrace to the original Ben 10 series and I honestly think CN should have just let this franchise die. This series isn't even funny in the slightest! The character designs are so bland, some of the voices for the characters are so unfitting and overall, this series just feels like a cheap and crappy way to make money. Leave Ben 10 alone! No one wanted this crappy reboot!

I was never much of a Marvel or DC fan growing up, as I never understood the hype for all those superhero action shows. But this particular series caught my eye while growing up because of the beautiful character designs and catchy theme song. I decided to re-watch this series for nostalgic purposes since I haven't watched this show since I was 14, and after re-watching it I hadn't realized just how intense this series is. This series focuses on our main protagonist Peter Parker as he juggles living a double life as a high school student trying to maintain a social life, and protecting the city from criminals by playing the city's favourite hero, Spider-Man. This series is full of action, a lot of violence and a bit of romance. This series focuses mostly on the male characters and plays on a bunch of stereotypes, like the typical rough and mean jocks, stuck up and superficial cheerleaders, nerds getting bullied for being 'too smart' and of course, pretty female characters that exist mainly as a love interest to one of the main characters. This show is 90% violence, 5% romance and 5% teens trying to make it through high school. It's a shame they ended this series on a bit of a cliffhanger.

This is one of those simplistic, feel good kind of shows. The overall storyline is pretty cheesy and some of the characters can act silly and extreme at times, but for the most part this series is fun to watch...if you can look past the over use of the word 'smurf' that's said in every other sentence. There is literally only one female smurf in the village, but she is accepted by the male smurfs and they all live happily and hold close bonds. They all work together and display positive themes, such as teamwork and friendship. The interesting part about this series is that all the smurfs are named after their personality traits, so I find some characters to be entertaining and hilarious, and others to be downright obnoxious.

I absolutely loved this film! What a refreshing reboot for a dying franchise. Bumblebee is an action packed film that takes viewers on a wild ride and it's not associated with those mediocre Bayformers films that over do it with the explosions and violence! :D Instead, Bumblebee takes a more calm and exciting approach and focuses more on Bumblebee's friendship with Charlie and his fight to stop the Decepticons from taking over Earth. I am really glad that this film has a female protagonist instead of the typical male protagonist. Charlie proved to be a very charismatic, relatable and brave character, and her friendship with Bumblebee is heartwarming and adorable. I also really like how this movie doesn't have a forced love interest (Charlie and Memo don't instantly fall in love with each other like Sam and Mikaela did) or have an abundance of unnecessary sexual references or suggestive material. The producers kept it clean and simple. This movie is truly a gem and I really hope they make a sequel.
