A strong 3/10 - No Spoilers.
TL;DR - lures you in pretending to be a comedy, is actually a heavily preachy joke on the audience's expense.
You need to be aware that this film is DELIBERATELY bad, it's inane on purpose. The repeated line "this is going to end badly" coupled with fourth wall breaks is meant to tell you exactly that. The film will end badly, and you will not be satisfied.
The trouble is, you can't tell that from any of the marketing, it's only once you pay your money to see the movie that you find out.
The trailer tries to show the film as a comedy, this is a deliberate con.
There are a few laughs, but the intention of the trailer is to support the message of the film, namely "you're all consumer sheep, there are bigger issues for you to focus on, like environmental problems".
The film is largely a lecture on why you're an idiot for paying to see the film, and buying into consumerism. "You came based on a celebrity influence, you sheep! You fool!"
If you're familiar with the message of George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, this film is sending the same message, but instead of being subtle it's shoved in your face via blatant symbolism, and frequent fourth wall breaking.
The trouble is this is a movie, a product designed to be consumed, and it draws you in under false pretences.
Seemingly so Jim (the director) can have a laugh at the audience's expense.
I literally felt like I'd been lied to and robbed.
Someone needs to ask Jim the Andy Kaufman question. Who are you trying to entertain? Yourself? Or the audience?
If you only want to entertain yourself, pretty soon you won't have an audience...
