A very inspiring story, easy to read and appreciate in every detail ! This book explores the life of a family who try to help a severely disabled daughter. It captures the many struggles of the mother working in order to improve the quality of life for Alexis. It contains many adventures with much humour and useful insights. While there are sad and moving moments in this powerful story there are also many happy examples of Alexis enjoying life. She is blind but loves music, good food and the outdoors in all the dramatic seasons of Canada. It think it would be a great Christmas gift for anyone.

Plastic's Republic a collection of poems by Giovanna Riccio is a very enjoyable reading experience for anyone. Many of her poems focus on memories of growing up with Barbie dolls and all her accessories. We explore the love-hate relationship with this powerful icon of American culture and style. There are happy memories, problems with identity and the dark side of obsessions with the blonde image of women. I bought copies of this book for friends as well.
