Both seasons are really good at drawing the viewer in. The season Plot Arch is really good at developing at a per episode pace. I wanted to not just view this through a nostalgic lens, but review with objectivity. The series stayed true to its roots and even helped develop some back story for the timeline. Story, Plot arch, Nostalgia, Characters ... I loved the new and the old characters... but, this is where my negative critique comes in. They take a page out of Star Trek 4 " The Voyage Home" The needlessly pander to demographics and green peace causes.. first its a line here or there... Then its about polluting the oceans,... Now Star Trek has always been about pushing new grounds.. with the first interracial kiss and ground breaking tech... and I applaud that, though now it feels that rather than it be part of the story... it because a soap box for grandstanding... (See Ice Agents deporting Illegal aliens) They don't take the objective approach they really do push the needle hard to the left. The rainbow of people that live the without the concept of money ..they talk about how backwards the 21st century is.. yet they have all the same vices, without the repercussions. They smoke, the drink, and all live in an intergalactic hedonistic socialist paradise ... Look we all knew Star Trek was a socialist Utopia from day 1. Honestly that didn't detract from the story... it just felt... by season 2 of this series.. it was more in your face with obvious pandering, that really didnt enrich the story or further the plot... it was there just there hang a flag on... Over all its a good story, but the longer you go into the second season, the more you see them insert "left leaning talking points"
