It's no Game of Thrones, no Vikings, and certainty no Last Kingdom. I watched the first episode and was not impressed despite being a fan of Bernard Cornwell. First episode was free but I was not inspired to subscribe to watch further.

This movie is one of my all time favorite westerns. Watch the opening credits, it's beautiful western paintings by a western artist who has a small role as the gunsmith that sells Mississippi a gun. I love the EAP poem the gives the movie its name. I was always in love with anything Robert Mitchum. I could listen to his voice forever.

This book gets off to a slow start with an extended look at life on the ridge and then suddenly a bear attacks and the story is off at a faster pace. This is sort of a bridge book that is preparation for the finale of book 10. That doesn't matter as you are swept up in the lives of the characters that you know and love. It does leave you with unresolved plot items but then the author did leave Jem stranded in a dark tunnel.
