I can’t comprehend how this ‘drama’ warranted a series 5. Flat, one dimensional characters (still) predictable plots, no natural humour between colleagues. Just dull, dull and dull.

A crime drama that has the feel of a soap opera. Got through the first episode but as soon as the main detective took her leather jacket off to reveal a vest top, I knew the rest was going to be riddled with cliches. Why do dramas do this with female detectives? It adds nothing and appears ludicrous when the surrounding characters are swamped in heavy jackets and hats. Also, the way they had her stomping about with spray on jeans and big clomping boots, will probably lead to the ‘revelation’ that she’s lesbian! If so, then just another heavy handed cliche.

I found this to be the slowest and dullest production of an Agatha Christie drama. Was debating to stick with it or not, when Matthew Rhys appeared and elevated it to another level. Up until that point I found the ‘acting’ stilted, wooden and rather am dram. The two primary female characters were wearing way too much makeup for that time period. It was as though they’d been plucked from an instagram account. Also the BBC appear to be on some kind of woke crusade with their period dramas. If people are unable to watch a period piece without becoming offended, maybe they should look up the historical context from the time. Otherwise it just becomes distracting for other viewers. If the BBC are so overly concerned by causing potential offense, maybe they should stop focusing on period drama and invest in new pieces, which they can ‘woke’ to their hearts content.

A waste of acting talent. Too many improbable scenarios and that was just in episode 1. They continued right at the start of episode 2 and I lost the will.

I couldn’t even get past the first 15 minutes. The lead detective constantly taking photos via his phone which was beyond irritating. Also within that short space of viewing time, there was enough smattering of woke to indicate more to come.

Really awful, plodding, stiff, predictable, with cardboard cutout ‘characters’. The main female detective has 2 expressions throughout. And why, no humour or day to day bantering? I lost the will to watch until the end.

I can’t watch anymore of this. Wooden acting, unconvincing and predictable scrip. Suranne Jones has a husband who (while she is away dealing with her mothers death) is constantly asking about inane domestic issues, I mean, really! We’re supposed to believe that instead of asking his wife, how she is coping, asks where the chili sauce is. Can’t imagine why a good actress such as she is, would put her name to such an inane ‘drama’. Finally, are there really so many scousers on the Isle of Man?!

I was expecting a dry, witty script considering Hugh Laurie had written it. Instead I found it oddly flat, with actors really ‘acting’ rather than being fully formed characters. Plus the story had a cobbled together feel about it. The filmography was superb but that in itself wasn’t enough for me to give a fig about ‘why they didn’t ask Evans’.
