Please do not judge this book without reading it because "you watched the series". The two are very different. The book is only Clay's thoughts and interactions while he listens to the tapes. It ends shortly after the last tape and does not show any other perspectives or scenes. The author wanted people to talk about teen suicide and this book does that. It shows the consequences of what could happen if the topic isn't taken seriously when a child steps up to get help (she did this in many different ways throughout the story).
