The book titled Study Listening is unique for teaching listening at an EFL/ESL context. For example, it practically shows the gap between traditional ways of teaching listening (which leads the learners listen and answer) and current trends of teaching listening (activate the learners’ background knowledge in the pre-listening activities, i.e., the activities focus on the lecture contents and lecture language; while-listening activities encompass first listening and second listening; listening and note taking in the first listening and detailed note-taking in the second listening. The post listening activities focuses on language and content of the lecture with self evaluation checklists. On the other hand, the book guides higher education teachers how to improve learners’ listening comprehension and how to teach the listening skill as well.
