Buejay Duo

This opinion is based on the movie itself. No political views or comparison to the original. Half the script was very stereotypical. All they talked about was “chi, honor, Phoenix, shame” it was a very cringy understanding of Chinese culture and wasn’t truly authentic. The movie was trying so hard to seem like it was artistic and in touch with the Chinese culture but seemed to lack research. The visuals are terrible for a 2020 Disney movie. The vfx was done poorly, you can obviously tell the green screen and that characters didn’t seem to fit in the environment. Cuts are weird, especially during fight scenes, hard to follow and isn’t consistent. They took Mulan, the Disney character that was KNOWN for being badass because she was “Just a girl” that saved China and twisted her into someone who managed to succeed in everything because she had good chi. The trailer looked amazing to me but the movie itself is overbearing trying to look artistic and falls flat in basically all aspects.
