I have been a huge fan of InuYasha since it first debuted. I rewatched the entire series with Mark, my husband who loves it to. That said, when I heard about this series I was excited and finally have Hulu. I am so happy with this series. The only downsides are I hate Jakken’s new VA and Miroku’s (may Kirby Rest In Peace). I wish Sangi did get more character screen time and battle action.
I find it combines the new characters of Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna great. I love to see how they mixed the daughter’s personalities with that of their parents as well as by appearance. I am beyond thrilled to see my old favorites mixed with new. I think the pacing is fine. The original series took a lot of time to build up as well. I love seeing Sango and Miroku’s twins and son. A really, really great series.
First of all, Rin was 18 when she gave birth and the feudal era was 500 years ago. Many girls married at 14! She was an adult and her and Sesshomaru’s relationship was a very slow burn, grow up. Kagome was in her 20s and Sango was about 17 or 18. By the way, InuYasha was technically 500 vs Kagome’s 15 years. She married InuYasha at either 17 or 18. People married much younger even at ages 15 or 16, so yeah, everyone waited longer than most. Demons or half demons will always be older because of how fast humans age. There is no ped*philia. I can see lots of character development. Miroku’s misses his wind tunnel, the thing that would kill him because he cannot protect those he loves. I like that he is way less a pervert and devoted to Sango. Sesshomaru has many different sides. He can still be stoic and angry. However, we see he can feel love and compassion. Setsuna develops a love for her sister and wants to free and protect her mother, yet also embraces her demon side. Towa becomes less fearful and more ready to embrace her demon nature as well. Moroha is a great mix of Kagome and InuYasha. She is powerful and determined, yet can be reckless. She is also kind and goofy.
Kohaku has fully embraced being the lead demon slayer and is brave and devoted to family. I love Kiera’s and seeing Hisui be so skilled at wielding Sango’s hiraikotsu is wonderful. All in all a really great series! I like hearing more about the Great Dog Demon and his backstory. Riku falling for Towa was not what I expected, but interesting seeing as he is similar to how Kagura was an incarnation to Naraku.
