Phoebe Hart's excellent film, "Orchids: My Intersex Adventure," helped me to fully understand people living with an Intersex body. Hart's film follows her brave self, and her sister, as she researches and takes a journey to visit fellow people living with Intersex conditions. From north Queensland to northern New South Wales, and beyond, Hart journeys to meet her kindred spirits, living as women and men, all with different stories to tell, from abuse in the orphanage, to loving supportive families. Orchids also follows Phoebe and her husband James' struggle with infertility and adoption. I personally discovered that my fellow acrobat from Sister Web circus, Aleisha, was an intersex person, from her interview in this film. I had included her group photo in my book, Acrobalances, which tried to be inclusive of all people working in our Circus artform.
