I have not read the Manto much but have heard about his writing styles.He was well reputed to write exactly what he saw around- which he said the unvarnished truth and many contemporaries despised :defying literary parameters. The movie has focused this aspect of Monto and has brilliantly succeeded on it with great performance by Nawazuddin and Rasika. The symbolization of his art Toba Tek Singh and Thanda Gosh and the consequence he faced for creating them has been well depicted and left the desired impact by the director.The screen play is appealing and matches the intellectual level his persona. In spite of dry subject the movie did not let loose my sight from the screen and i enjoyed every bit of movie.I felt the pain of Manto when he resisted his wife Safia to open the letter from Shyam (Devanand) whose friendship he had surrendered to the partition ,there i felt his vanity struggling with poverty.I felt his pain,though lesser, when he urged his brother in law to take him hospital when he saw rather his daughter in terrible condition. I wish the film could have given little more predominance to Krishan Chaander and Faiz ahmed faiz. This is must watch movie and masterpiece.It will linger on in my mind little more days.
