At the height of Gil Evans collaboration with greats, like Miles Davis came this album which features Kenny Burrell in some of his most elegant playing. The colors created by Gil's unusual arrangements might well compare to some of the great classical romantic composers. If you love great jazz then this album is a must for your collection.

It is unfortunate that the engineer who originally recorded this album had practically no understanding of microphone techniques. As such he stuffed condenser microphones into the steel holes of the steel frame essentially creating harmonic distortion. Aside from this, the performance and empathy between these 2 musicians is at the highest imaginable level of jazz creativity and nuance. I highly recommend this album as one that you can listen to daily and never get tired of. Aside from the great repertoire of tunes, there is a meditative peacefulness about this session.

Historically it adds little enlightenment to what was Marie's real fate.
If it was to tell her story then why stop at their attempt to escape France.
She was eventually beheaded.
Sofia needs to get a set of balls. If she were living during that time in France and documented it, she would have been beheaded
The costumes are stunning and the scenes of the French countryside are wonderful, which makes it more of a promotional video then a moving drama.
In short it's boring. Seems like the phrase "let them eat cake" was the main highlight of the film.
Trying to spruce it up with a second rate modern soundtrack, I found rather pathetic. It really made me appreciate the music used of that period.
