This album is incredible. So much more lyrically diverse than it's successors, SelfTitled is an exploration of the mind for Tyler, and with songs like Implicit Demand for Proof literally asking God for proof of his existence, and Addict with a Pen as one of the most honest and heartdriven songs ever written by the band, this album is a wonder.
This album is their only album other than Scaled and Icy to feature bass guitar, which upgrades the quality of the album a lot, especially in Air Catcher and Implicit Demand for Proof.
Personally, I think the SelfTitled record is lyrically, the best Twenty One Pilots album. I find myself singing the rap portions of songs, (which most of the tracks have,) all the time. Specifically the raps in Fall Away, Isle of Flightless Birds, and Taxi Cab.
The quality of the piano on this album is unmatched. Nearly every song features powerful piano pieces. Some of Tyler's singing sounds a little raw/stressed if you are used to their newer albums, but it's easy to get used to. Don't be pushed away by it.
Overall, I'd give this album a 9.5/10. Some parts of the album would sound better if they were recorded in a studio rather than a basement, and if they had newer vocals from Tyler that would sound more mature.
