Genius! A musical that provides its own cringe to the next song. Ha! A plot twist within a classic story that elevates the original theme. Hidden references to each cast member’s ghosts-of-characters-past (ie Reynold’s Deadpool jacket, Spencer’s Pie and Ferrel’s Gator The Pimp.) Each scene layers some serious life philosophies. IYKYK. 5 stars music, choreography, script architecture, set design and cultural relevance. A Christmas Classic.

Honestly, this movie should be rated "PG-55;" irrelevant to a youthful audience but profoundly meaningful to silvers. It was more violent than I thought necessary, but the star studded cast of Ryan Reynolds, Ben Kingsley, Victor Garber, Antoine Fisher, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Goode and the music of Big Freedia was reason enough to watch. Anyone who has ever said, "Oh to be young again," will rethink that sentiment. Earthly immortality is always a deal with the devil. Better than just entertainment, the movie gives reasons to analyze priorities.
