The movie is beautifully done. You empathize with the drug addict. You identify with Isabella (Hayek) and her loneliness. Greg (Wilson) torn ambivalence and struggles along with what the family goes through when it deals with a member who spirals down the drug hole. It does a good job of bringing brutal humanity into the world of a drug afflicted individual and family.
Many of the addicted suggest their normal lives are just boring. They are happier in their own imagination. It is often that all of us are uncomfortable with this notion that we force our reality into them instead of allowing the bliss of their souls to enjoy their journey.
It plays to the human desire to feel important as the drug addict’s world becomes grandiose and meaningful.
A wonderful watch if you stick with it. Hayek and Wilson do an admirable job in roles they do not usually undertake.
