Absolutely disappointing. Disney not only removed amazing songs from the movie but they excluded key characters such as Li Shang, Mushu, Cricket, and Mulan's grandmother. This was upsetting to me because these characters had a significant impact and role in Mulan's life. Mushu, Cricket and Mulan's grandma were her guides, mentors and help throughout the movie but they also added some humor which was needed since the film had a little bit of a sad and dark plot for a Disney movie in my opinion. So excluding them from this remake was upsetting. I didn't mind that the songs were excluded from this film because Disney has made other live action movies that weren't musicals such as Maleficent and Pete's Dragon. However the exclusion of these iconic songs made it that much more difficult to decipher the difference between this film and any other Asian and Kung-fu movie that I've watched. Disney remakes are supposed to be close to the original and have a little twist that makes it different in its own way. This film had too much of a difference from the original and frankly lacked that Disney magic that all the other remakes have. Therefore in my opinion this movie is not worth watching or paying $29.99 to watch it early on Disney plus.
