I thoroughly enjoyed midnight sun possibly even more than twilight itself. As an adult who fell in love with the saga as a 13 year old I really appreciated the more adult take on the story and the nostalgia that midnight sun brings. I know many think it's lazy to rewrite the story but honestly all us fans wanted to get Edwards perception and while reading it doesn't feel lazy or like she is just retelling the story at all, there are a lot of gaps that have been filled and we are given more insight and information on Edwards life and thought process which was massively missed in the original story. It almost feels like a completely different book. Of course Stephanie meyers writing style itself remains attention grabbing and relatable as it always has been making the book very easy to binge read. We are given many small snippets about the other characters and their history mostly Alice whose background is so interesting it is a real treat. The only issue I have is that she isn't continuing with writing new moon from Edwards perspective which I think is really needed as he least appeared in that part of the saga and we would all love to know what he was up to and how he was feeling during that time. Of course if you aren't a fan of the saga then no you probably won't enjoy midnight sun, as it was written purely for the sake of us big fans to indulge in.
