I’m looking at the positive reviews of this movie and general wondering if we saw the same movie. Are you sure you didn’t watch the original by accident? Warning spoilers about this movie that I don’t recommend anyone watching. To start it off, The actor of Mulan dose a terrible job. She’s so bad. Also she basically has super powers so she can do anything and dosen’t have to train. She just has to believe in herself...I guess. All of the characters are so bland and not one is memorable. They have no personality. I hardly remember any lines that mulan said. Also instead of Mulan being smart at the avalanche scene and using tricks she learned to chase it they trick the villan into doing it himself! That’s so dumb!!! Remember that somber scene in the original? Remember how we go from the happy “A girl worth fighting for” to the destroyed village? Remember how no one talks because there all in shock, and Shangs father is dead? Well now let’s just cut to the scene out of nowhere! Let’s just talk about this death and destruction! This should be one of the most important parts of the movie! But they spend literally less then a minute on it! Another example is in the original Mulan leaves at night. It’s secret, it’s dark, it’s stormy, it’s dramatic. She cuts her hair with the sword, and we see her get into the amor, and she rides off. No talking. We feel everything the characters feeling. Then her family wakes up and night and realize she’s gone. It’s sad, it’s dangerous, it’s scary. But now it just cuts to her with the amor on, and riding off. Now her family just wakes up in the morning to find her gone. It’s not as emotional. Great FREAKING work Disney!!! Another thing, they somehow made the cricket and the matchmaker scene dumber too. Now it’s just a random spider that causes the matchmaker to do a backflip, and Mulan catches all the teapots. It’s so much dumber then it seems. there isn’t much music, but they have actors speak lines like: “I don’t care what she looks like, just what she cooks like!” “Or tranquil as a forest but on fire with in.” For Pete’s sake, EITHER YOU COMMIT TO THE MUSIC OR YOU DON’T!!! They also have this bird witch lady that works with the villain who turns into a bird or a bunch of birds because that’s more realistic! This is the realistic mulan you guys I swear! They also make the bird lady say: “Your not so different you and I.” CAN THAT DISNEY LINE JUST DIE ALREADY?! That wasn’t even creative. It’s like there trying to shove Mulan and that bird lady’s connection down my throat. Usual a good movie would show us a parallel between the hero and the Villan instead of telling us, we have to feel it. But forbid a live action Disney movie make you THINK! And then the witch takes an arrow for Mulan, because she’s impressed how much of a girl boss mulan is. But she was working for the villan fine just five minutes ago. Anyway the last worst thing about this movie is the editing. The backgrounds made me feel like I was having a stroke in the beginning. Every single background is an ugly gray green color. It’s not nice looking, which is strange because CHINA IS GORGEOUS!!! All culture from the original is washed out, and not shown. The editing sucks, during a fight scene, they cut to a bunch of different people fighting, at the same time every 0.2 seconds. It’s terrible. Please never watch this movie. I wasted 2 hours of my life I’m never gonna get back. Save your life and go watch the original again. Or other ORIGINAL disney movies.
