They call it a historical movie , an emotional drama . But just because you chose a historical character and created a set like that doesn't make a movie historical. There was no serious emotion be it anything . The audience doesn't feel connected to any of the characters. Although it was a visual treat, some of the scenes were very clumpsy with the unnecessary casting / placing of a few characters. War scene was total chaos. There were many scenes copied directly from other Hollywood and Malayalam movies. The film title was "marakkar: lion of Arabian sea". But the relationship between Marakkar and Sea wasn't established .morevever the major war was fought on land. Cinematography was a failure. The language used was hilarious. The Director wasn't just mocking the historical character of Kunjali but mocking each one of us who went to watch the film. There was nothing called as Script or a story line for the movie . I wonder how stupid they are to believe a movie would be a hit just with the crores they spent and big star cast and has got nothing to do with the script or story. Dialogue delivery which forms a crucial part of any historical movie was ridiculous and pathetic in Marakkar. The Director has clearly not entered into the detailing of any of the characters nor he seems to have done any solid historical research. It was just an average ( or a below average- to be honest ) movie. Don't call it a class one. We have many class, historical movies to our credit. And Marakkar is a total disgrace to that.
