The concept of the game and the mechanics are second-to-none. Realism, skill, and a punishing environment are at the forefront. It is easily the most immersive FPS ever made, when it works.
The problem: the game only works sometimes. While it is in beta, and that should be considered, this ambitious title will be in beta forever because of the small, inexperienced team that is at the lead.
The game is available to play by anyone currently, but the majority of the player base is either streamers or cheaters. The majority of the rest: this is the only game they play, and they play a lot. This game is not for casual players in the slightest.
Battlestate Games, the developer, fights a constant battle between their player base, cheaters, and the development process. This is one thing when you have a big team like Activision. But how many games are fully playable while the game is in beta? There is no time to focus on new content and bugs. They treat the game as if it is complete, but use the "beta" moniker as a tapout for the many issues this game faces.
From weak servers, to cheaters, to the experience gap, to the infinite beta, this game is a victim to its own ambition. If I had one word of advice for Battlestate: take the beta down, or only offer it to select individuals. Focus on making the title you envisioned. Finish it, release it, and then focus on fixing the little problems and balancing the game. Otherwise, this game will never get out of its own way.
