TRoS suffers for one reason only: you. This movie was bracing for garbage reviews before it ever hit the big screen due to a mob mentality that is much more illogical than any Star Wars plot goof in any of the films/trilogies. Remove the influence of random incels and neckbeards posting one-star reviews online, and this is what you have...
TRoS is the fast-paced adventure of unlikely heroes thrust into a threat larger than what they are realistically able to overcome. With hokey one-liners, light speed, and a little bit of hope, these heroes destroy a formidable foe. This movie is more Star Wars than TFA and TLJ combined, and it really soars. Are there undeveloped plot points and fantastical elements that require the audience to fill in the gaps? Yes. Welcome to Star Wars. Read criticisms and apply those criticisms to the OT; if you are intellectually honest, you will find that those criticisms stick there as well. Star Wars is silly and always has been. Those who are incapable of enjoying TRoS are to be pitied.
May the force be with you, always.
