Too many unexplained and irrelevant plot lines. Too many long and lingering shots of scenery. Poor sound quality. Needs more editing and better wardrobe design. Overall? Disappointing.

I'm sure I would have got much more out of this film if the volume wasn't so low. It was like watching a foreign languuage movie without subtitles. And even when they were speaking in German, the necessary subtitles weren't always displayed, which added to my confusion. It was challenging to understand the storyline without one of your senses. I struggled. The Cate Blanchett character was very complex, mostly unlikeable but beautifully acted.
