Not the show for you if you were raised on Disney and other "everything is always alright' superhero shows. Yes, very adult, thought provoking and the acting is solid, and the characters are complex. The subtly of the writing is spot on. Calling it "The Boys" with the various generations being members of the club is brilliant. I watched 2 episodes of Super Girl and couldn't take the saccharin. This show is nothing like that.
