I thought, as a war movie, that this covers the true ideology of what a military man goes through. When the beginning starts, it shows the demeaning way nazi soldiers would walk through the field to view their destruction. As it advances further, you realize that even though the men in the war weren't perfect, they were there to win the war. It's a brilliant look into the realities, as graphic as they are, that shape the way a man changes and becomes what is necessary to accomplish their goals. It's not PC, it's not your average war hero story but, its a portrayal of what is realistic to the meaning of war. It's not pretty, it's not heartfelt, it's real. War changes a man and this movie shows that. In the end, personal ethics and a responsibility to do what's needed to win the war that's important. That's what war is. It's not a soft view point of the situation. It shows the dark sides and light sides of what man becomes when thrown into a toxic and death filled environment. You can't be Romeo when fighting a battle that is hopeless and I appreciate that. As a former soldier, it shows the truth to war. War changes you and you do things that you never would have done unless pushed into that situation. In the end, a man sacrifices himself to protect the soldiers who will come to finish that battle later. That's what men do...
