I love going to the movies and this one is pretty damn good - though not great - (in the epic sense.) It's a movie with various Oscar potential.
I was 15 in 1969 and a hippie flower poster child right up to the acid, halter tops and flirtatious indiscretion.
The transition of black and white innocence to seemingly deep (stunt men are better than actors because they're real) marijuana philosophy is well portrayed as is the second rate B stars of television and the allure of the big screen. Ironically, it's the small screen heroes and villians that are ultimately remembered and revered. It's a film wortj watching just to see Brandy (Cliff's dog) and the ending is great. The "damn hippies" is an interesting reversal from the peace loving groupies we expect to see on a commune to a violent clan of psychopaths.
This movie must be seen at least twice and I'll see it again this weekend. Acting is great across the board. The "girl actor " amazing.
