While showing the human facer of Fidel Castro and the value that he and his government have given to education, to public health and to social cohesion, he did not shy away from showing how difficult life has been for average Cubans during the years since the triumph of the revolution in 1959. The real stars of this film are the Cubans who the Cameraman came to know from all walks of life, including school children, construction workers, teachers, doctors and farmers - they are so full of energy, joie de vivre and love.
