I would not evaluate the game simply based on nostalgia. As a remake, the only things which were done right are: maintaining the old gameplay, improving cinematics and the music.
However, while the gameplay is as fun as I could remember the game is, overall, lacking severely.
a) The graphics improvement are poor. I was expecting more from a game released in 2021, and from a company which we know can provide better
b) Servers crashes are way too common and the lag is in par with that experienced when playing the original game, without the excuse of using a 56k modem
c) Although it is a remake, some small quality of life could be introduced (e.g. add an option to always see objects on the ground if the player chose so). Also the text boxes for items on the ground are of poor
d) Text and text boxes for story dialogues are very small, makes me wonder if they kept the old ones changing screen resolution
quality (i.e. they are the same as the original game)
e) Monsters often place themselves near to walls or trees, becoming almost invisible due to the lack of transparency. Adding something like monster's silhouettes would have solved this point
f) The quality of the map summoned with the Tab key could have been improved, a lot
There is probably more, but I would need to put more hours of gameplay in the game
