The huge tonal shift from primarily 'unsettling thriller'/'horror' to primarily 'sci-fi'/'action' was still hard to digest despite knowing what I was getting into. I absolutely loved the first M3GAN for being what it was, a creepy killer doll movie.
The first half of M3GAN 2.0 was great. It had all of the elements that made the first movie great: thriller, horror, action, comedy, and sci-fi. The second half just didn't do it for me. Those elements of 'creepy thriller' and 'horror' that had me loving the first movie were completely non-existent. I also felt the final explosion for the "Falling Action" was underwhelming and could've been a little bigger.
Overall, the movie was enjoyable. It definitely had its funny moments, the action is there, and it still offer some chills and thrills. But idk if I would watch it more than two times compared to watching the original 3 times at this point and more in the future. Im just a much bigger fan of M3GAN as a terrifying villain.
