Joel Jones

This is one of my favorite works of music. It is an amazing blend of orchestral majesty and jazz energy. In a way that is hard to articulate, it is evocative of the place named, Muir Woods. When I first listened to the album in the late 90s,I had not been there, but I had been to other redwood forests. When I finally visited Muir Woods almost 20 years later, I understood. There is a certain "liveness" to Muir Woods that distinguishes it from other redwood forests, and that quality is reflected in this suite.
