This post is for Angela. The American Embassy does not care about how large or small your wedding reception is. Whether you get married in court by a justice of the peace or by the clergy with a huge reception, their consideration for the spousal visa is the same. I do have some news for you. I have had several friends who married overseas and it usually takes a long time for a spousal visa. The Embassy will issue either a CR1 visa(conditional immigrant visa) or a K-3 (non-immigrant visa). According to the government it takes 10-14 months to process these visas. Both my friends have brought wives over, one from the Philippines and one from China, and it took both of them over a year to get their spouses to the states. The quickest way to bring someone over is still the K1 fiance' visa. This usually takes about 6 months to process.
