I read online that the serial was based on a book. I haven't read the book and the fact is I don't feel the need to read the book - for the serial "Defending Jacob" gave every emotion, detail at every suspenseful moment. I recall some moments where the sky is completely grey, a lot of shots are almost monochromatic.
