Its a love letter to fans but also does a great job of explaining what is happening to novice viewers. Egon's granddaughter steals the show, though the rest of the cast was also great. As a big fan since childhood I was very nervous about this movie... but excited as well. I was VERY pleasantly surprised! I think I already love it. I cried at the end.
