One of those movies that really sticks with you forever. This movie made me cry, really cry, like a family member has died crying.
Movie is from innocent kids point of view, and choices that they are forced to make and consequences that they suffer. It's set in wartime Japan, and isn't about the battlefield, but how civilians also suffer during war.
Watch it, and really get an appreciation of why war has a big cost on humanity.
