The movie captures the sense of an era and a place that existed as the result of extraordinary events. A devastating war and it’s aftermath interwoven in social changes the likes of which we can only imagine. It’s a dark movie about dark times. Makes “The Pianist” seem lighthearted by comparison. Real Oscar material!
