Sad story
Great acting, authentic characters
Otherwise, everything about this was bad. Very boring. The characters were believable but shallow, no complexity or nuance. DiCaprio's character both loved his wife and did XYZ (not trying to tell the story .... not that there was any mystery to it. They told the story rather matter of factly). DiCaprio is an amazing actor but his character didn't make sense.
DiNiero's character was fairly shallow and lacked nuance or depth.
The story telling had no suspense, intrigue, or surprise.
The investigation and trial was simple and boring.
They could have told the same story in 90 minutes (instead of 3 1/2 hours) and created some suspense, and nuance. It was the wise of both worlds.
I'm befuddled for the reviews it got.
Hands down worse movie I've seen since the Transformers.
