Im all for making Shakespeare and the works accessible and exciting for children and younger people. But we shouldn't dumb it down to badly acted, poorly directed, sensational scenes from an imagined tudor world obviously filmed on a low budget.
This portrayal of William Shakespeare is boring. His character is boring, already middle aged in episode 1 and he has no voice. None of the 'actors' speak, (proof of a low budget)
Shakespeare's work doesn't need 21st century gimmicks.
Presumably the money and creativity went on buying in all the 'stars' to act their enthusiasms.
Very disappointing and hardly a worthy tribute to or celebration of his genius.
AND not worthy of a midweek prime spot on BBC2.
