I've watched this three times, because I really wanted to give it a chance. I understand the symbolism and symmetry they worked into the story, but it seems forced and poorly executed.
Completely disappointing, and at times, painful to watch.
Rory's character is just whiny, repetitively saying that she's not back. I'm sure it was supposed to be a bit, but it was a flop. What happened to following Barack Obama through his campaign? Instead, she's just a Yale graduate failure? Cheats on her boyfriend, to repeatedly sleep with an engaged man. That's not her character. She would have learned from her experience with Dean. Instead, she's completely selfish. That's not her.
What's wrong with Lorelai? Her mental state is just left unexplained, suddenly leaving Luke, and repeatedly failing to start her hike. She was just confusing and depressing. It was cool that they brought in her co-actors from Parenthood though.
I love Gilmore Girls. Seen it countless times. I can have it on in the background, listen and know exactly what's happening.
The new mini series is just incredibly bad writing, with some disappointing acting.
