I am trying to find My People, My Country - full film, subtitled, on the net. After watching the previews and comments from people who starred in it on Youtube, I was enthralled.
Although I am not Chinese I have visited China three times. The Chinese people have every right to be proud of their country and its achievements. The PRC has been a country for less than the time I have been alive. (I was born in October, 1946.). In that time they have gone from an exploited peasant-rural society to a people who put one of the own in space! My goodness, I am getting goose-pimples just thinking about that fact!
Nothing will shake my faith in the Chinese people, whether in the mainland, Hong Kong or Taiwan. I was delighted to see the symbol of Hong Kong, the Baihina, next to the flag of the mainland. Ir said so proudly to me that, once we were separated but now we are together again and appreciate each other.
This is such contrast to my own country which refuses to display the Aboriginal flag and the Islanders and Torres Strait indigenous flag. How vile and petty is that?
