MB Truman

This film grabbed my heart, both as an homage to the fans and the genre itself. Fans will love the documentary "Never Surrender"...I'm late to the game a bit on it...it was made last year, but I just discovered it!

How did I get through self-isolation without finding this before now????? I've been such a big fan of the movie, and this is just the perfect documentary for me!!!!! This is the only thing I've ever liked Tim Allen in, and the fact that he's unlikable throughout the bulk of the film worked for me. I think it's a bold choice for all the actors in the film...a true leap of faith...Mamet was spot on!!!

While I expected to be entranced with Firth's performance, I actually preferred the portrayal of his younger character and his time in internment. Silent staring matches between Lomax and his wife were painfully drawn out and distinctly unromantic, what seemed to be piecemeal timelines riddled with holes, and general disinterest in any scenes Kidman had a dominant role in...not a film I'd recommend.

Tender, somber...about so much more than soup. Just a lovely piece of art.
