The problem with Apu is that he was actually treated as more of a human with a plethora of episodes examining his struggles and human emotions than almost any other side character in the series. Instead of him being examined in a heart-warming way, he should have been boiled down to the most 1-dimensional Indian stereotype ever without ever being given any complexity. The Simpsons notoriously stereotypes its white characters (Wiggum, Moe, Willie, Otto, Flanders, Burns, Smithers, etc.) but gives Apu more depth than any of these characters are ever given. It's so racist! If I could give 0 stars, I would!

It's got some of the most beautiful, sad, and philosophical writing I've seen in any of the Fallout games or DLCs. It's buggy as hell but I can forgive that because of how strong the storytelling is.

It turns a tragic story about the murder of a girl into romantic spectacle where it's repeatedly implied over and over that her murder made her happier, and that Stanley Tucci is effectively the good guy in the story for sending his victims to heaven. There's no tonal balance between grisly scenes of murder and implied rape with outright horror visuals and the cloying, happy sentimentality of Sarandon's wackiness and Ronan partying on the astral plane. No matter how good the actors are in this, it doesn't make up for the awful characters, the sickening themes, or the lack of balance. Just a mess of a movie.
