First things first, visually and gameplay wise this is a amazing. The amount of detail is fantastic, but that’s where for me the praise stops. The map is identical to the last spider game even down to the squirrels that run aimlessly in the middle of a busy New York street, the general public’s reaction to Spider-Man is very poor, like the last game, are you telling me if Spider-Man dropped down in the middle of the street people would not be swarming him? The story is ridiculously short and it’s not really worth doing the side quests as they are very repetitive, especially the “time capsule” side quest, where you have to collect miles version of peters backpacks. Now bearing in mind he manages to place these all over the city with his friend before he has any powers, so one is behind a brick wall, and it’s some concert tickets.....it just feels like there is no point to that, like it’s been added to the game for the sake of adding it to pad out the game time. The enemies are garbage, you basically have an updated version of kingpins goons and the demons, now it’s the underground and Roxxon. Have the typical enemies, one with a shield, one with a whip, one with a baton etc all require different ways to beat them, again just like the last game. Your “main” villains are rhino, who you fight twice, the tinkerer.....and miles uncle. So the bottom of the barrel enemies. No hint at venom as of yet and I am about to do the last mission. Miles for me is irritating, just a typical 17 year old obsessed with streamers and social media and not causing offence. Then we get to the part where insomniac want to ram it down our throats how PC they are, since I have played I have heard references to everything but Christmas, so Hanukkah, quanza etc, so as to not offend any religious group, we have a gay oh sorry lesbian couple so that’s the gay crowd covered, a deaf girl, and a lovely long shot of the black lives matters painting. So so over the top, put all these things in as if they want recognition for being so PC. This doesn’t come close to the first spider game, and this is not even mentioning the blatant Tom Holland esque new Peter Parker who’s voice now no longer fits his face, looks ridiculous. But they desperately wanted to release this for the ps5. Wouldn’t play again.
