I honestly enjoyed the movie until the very end. Ron Stallworth was portrayed as a very conscientious and deep thinking individual. The humor was well written, and the tense interactions between the undercover detectives and the KKK kept me at the edge of my seat. It was an interesting throwback to the time when America was struggling more with racism. It also brilliantly showed how both sides of a conflict could become violent, the black people in the movie being incited to violence in the beginning, and the KKK having very harmful plans.
However, the very blatant show of politics at the very end of the movie ruined it for me. I did not watch this movie to be influenced by politics, I watched it for an entertaining evening. The fact of the matter was, is that they not only made it political but they also took Presidents words out of context and made it seem as if he was a supporter of the KKK ideals. I quite hate it when actors and media try to manipulate me. I hate how the oscars are so political. And this movie was very reminiscent of that. This movie was not marketed as a present day insight on modern politics; but a dramatized historical true story. I just wished they stayed true to just that story.
